All day fun! (Shenandoah Riverfest | Shenandoah River Rodeo)
VFW Post | 1847 N. Royal Avenue
Front Royal, VA 22630

The Shenandoah River Rodeo is a celebration of the Shenandoah Valley's best resource: the river! For three years, Shenandoah Riverkeeper Jeff Kelble has been bringing people together for an afternoon of live music, fishing, camping, and food! Check out photos of this year's Rodeo.

Food & Drink: As always, Ara Moomjian cooked up a monster-sized BBQ!

Live Music: We were pleased to bring you live music from Harvest Blue Grass Band.

Raffle: We had a great raffle this year to support Shenandoah Riverkeeper: We raffled off some pretty big items: including a canoe and a kayak courtesy of Front Royal Canoe Company Other raffle donors included Gander Mountain, Rockfish Gap Outfitters, Mossy Creek Fly Fishing, and Costco Wholesale.

Rodeo: The rodeo gets its name from a fishing competition between the best fishing guides in the Valley. The guides and thier clients fished all day to catch the most smallmouth bass and earn bragging rights over the other guides for the year. THANK YOU TO FISHING GUIDES: John Hayes, Butch Murphy, Mark Frondorf, William Heresniak, Bryan Kelly, Jeff Murray, and  L.E. Rhodes.

This year the Rodeo was part of the Shenandoah Riverfest, a free family event from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Families enjoyed free canoe trips, a wild animal display, educational exhibits, fly fishing demonstrations, music and more! For info go to www.canoecapital.org.

Of course, the main attraction was Jeff Kelble, our Shenandoah Riverkeeper. Jeff has been a leading advocate for the river, and his work is paying off! Conditions at the HOT Lanes construction site have improved, Jeff helped author a study on fish health, and he and Alan Lehman have visited over 1,000 farms as part of our Green Farms, Clean Rivers program.
